Vibrio cholerae O1 Latex Test
The Vibrio cholerae O1 Latex Test contains three separate slide latex reagents for the typing/detection of V. cholerae O1: reagent A is a suspension of latex particles coated with a monoclonal antibody to a cell wall antigen of V. choleraeserogroups O1 strains, and reagents B and C are used for sub-typing. Reagent A has a sensitivity of 100% for culture confirmation and approximately 65% for directly screening stools for rapid bedside results. All reagents are conveniently sold separately.
Vibrio cholerae O1 Antisera
For the serotyping of clinical isolates, the set consists of a polyvalent O1 and mono-specific Inaba and Ogawa antisera (2ml x 3). Positive specimens which react only with either the Inaba or Ogawa monovalents are serotyped respectively as such; strains
which react with both monovalents are identified as the Hikojimaserovar. *O139 “Bengal” antisera is sold separately.
